Chalk Walk is a free community event featuring family-friendly entertainment. The three-day festival will include children’s art activities and entertainment, local artists’ hosted art and open-air market and live musical entertainment with a Chalk Tail Party on Friday and Saturday night with drink specials.

“Our goal with Chalk Walk is to bring the community together around art,” says Christina Campbell, general manager of TBBCA. “Sidewalk art has a rich history of being an accessible form of art for all people, regardless of artistic abilities.”

Kicking off the musical entertainment at the Chalk Tail Party on Friday night (March 18) is Ben Bryan Band and Nunes at Night. Donnie Rogers and The Bucket List perform on March 19. Chalk Walk will feature special appearances from Ms. Lisa’s Dance, Elmo from Learning Express and animals from Lowry Park Zoo.

At the conclusion of the event, a prestigious panel of judges will announce the winners of the chalk art and plein air artist contest and the People’s Choice award. The TBBCA will award $3,000 in cash prizes to the artists.

Chalk Walk is part of TBBCA’s Save the Arts initiative that also provides funding for High School Art Stars, which annually gives $15,000 in scholarships to six Bay Area students based on artistic ability in the fields of instrumental music, literary arts, vocal music, visual arts, theatre and dance and Cultural Encounters, which financially benefits area cultural institutions while giving members of the community a unique behind-the-scenes experience.

Sponsors for Chalk Walk include: Blue Moon Beer, Hyde Park Village, Hill Ward Henderson, Busch Gardens Tampa, Rasmussen College, Kleinman Bertucelli Investment Advisory Group of Raymond James, Wyndham Tampa Westshore, Barnet, Bolt, Kirckwood, Long & McBride, Premier Eye Care, St. Petersburg Times, tbt*, Casa Nova, Charles A.
